Book Review: the Christian life

Sinclair B. Ferguson has said this very insightful statement in the first sermon in this collection on doctrine and there vital position in the faith; and why they are necessary to not believe but also to adhere too. And I would agree with Him.

"I began to see that in fact the 'deeper truths'  (if there ever was such a thing)  are really the old basic truths of the gospel." (Pg. 1)

Indeed that is the central point! Each and every Christian must come to an understanding of the gospel truths not only in the form of Catechism; but also from good and faith pastors who are charged with delivering them unto the truth as Paul tell us (Romans 6:17). Therefore,  it is a blessing to be taught the word both in systematic fashion with regularity and in a thematic fashion when there is a needs; and one such need is when it comes to doctrines which this work is centred upon.

It is a wise practice repeat the familiar truths of the gospel several time over the course of a church existence; and that is for several practical reason: first, man is prone to forget things if they are not taught them more than once. Second, man is needful for such a blessing because it take time to get down the basic points of a doctrine. Third, and this maybe a worthy reason; there will times when new Christians who are not yet stable in such thing come into the fold and need to be given good instruction.

In this work, Sinclair. B Ferguson, gives us the most important doctrines to the faith in a most brif fashion as it is an introduction to these great points; and I would highly recommend them to any Christian who is seeking a better understanding of these core points.
